Washington Youth Tour
For the past 17 years, Broad River Electric Cooperative has sponsored local high school juniors on an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington D.C. After traveling with dozens of other South Carolinians, meeting their legislators, and forming their own cooperative, it’s trip many students say is “an experience of a lifetime.”
The 2017 Electric Cooperative Washington Youth Tour is scheduled for June 10th - 15th, 2017. Broad River Electric will be sending three students from the counties we serve. Those students will be eligible for the R.D. Bennett College Scholarship, worth $5,000.
For the first time, we will also be sending three students on the South Carolina Youth Tour, a three-day trip to our state’s capital in Columbia where they will enhance their leadership skills, tour a power generating facility, role play the legislative process, and enjoy fun activities. The South Carolina Youth Tour will take place July 26th – 28th, 2017.
